Cotton Jones, the beloved indie-pop band from Maryland, will be playing exclusively at Charleston’s Eye Level Art, Thursday, May 20th. Michael Nau and Whitney McGraw are the primary songwriters for this beloved band who sound like a married couple sitting around a campfire. They create a similar blend of indie pop and psychedelia while adding a more folky and experimental twist. On their debut disc, Nau and McGraw craft jazzy folk peppered with pianos, strings and organs, fused with soft vocal harmonies. The pair shares a love of 60’s psych-pop, which is musically translated into a warm summer afternoon lying face-up in a field, and watching the clouds drift by. After listening to Cotton Jones live, one is usually left wondering why every year can’t be 1967.
Special opening performance by Jason and the Juggernauts.
