On Saturday June 19, 2010, Eye Level Art will exhibit local designer Rachel Gordon’s newest collection paired with photography of her work by Ben Williams, and ethereal inspired paintings based on this photo series by artists Kenton James and Patrick Nevins. The multimedia fashion, photography, and art installation will be held at, Eye Level Art, 103 Spring Street, from 7-10pm.

Ethereal celebrates the female form and goddess aesthetic through fashion, photography and painted works on canvas in this special, multi-platform exhibition. Patrons will be surrounded by both visual and performance art throughout the evening as well as a special presentation with live models wearing Gordon’s designs taking center stage.

“The ‘Ethereal’ theme emerged from dresses designed with the purpose of inspiring women to feel divine, elegant, beautiful, spiritual, connected, powerful, and most importantly, loved,” says designer Rachel Gordon.

Ethereal inspired music will be spun at the gallery and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $25 for THE VIP LOUNGE (includes open bar) at Eye Level Art’s 103 Gallery (103 Spring St.), which can be purchased in advance by calling (843)278-2374. Doors open at 7pm till 11pm and this is an all ages show.

About the Artists:

A graduate of the College of Charleston, Rachel Gordon began her fashion career in 2006, where she was soon cast as an emerging designer in Charleston Fashion Week in 2007. After the launch her newest brand ONE LOVE in 2009, Gordon has joined the many successful designers with the opening of her store ONE on King Street. Gordon’s elegant bohemian designs call to mind the mellow summer months ahead. Gordon and her work have been featured in Charleston Magazine, Charleston City Paper, Deep Magazine, College of Charleston Magazine, The red carpet in LA, and the Post and Courier.

Photographer Ben Williams shoots for several publications and clients in the South and spends much of his time hopping around the country photographing weddings.

Artist Kenton James has become local favorite, showing his work at many downtown galleries. His paintings are glimpses into emotional scenes, screenshots into a mysterious narrative. His work engages audiences to subjectively fabricate for themselves the surrounding story line.

Eye Level is proud to announce the premiere of visual artists Patrick Nevins, who will display his first works at the gallery on the 19th. Nevins, after serving four years in the Marine Corps, attended the College of Charleston where he received a degree in studio art. He is an aspiring artist focusing primarily on the beauty and form of the female figure but also dabbles with landscapes and still lifes.  A self-proclaimed perfectionist, Patrick strives for as much realism as possible in his paintings. His paintings can currently be seen at Squeeze downtown.
